In the beginning: A poem

In the beginning

In the beginning there was light.

Not darkness.

14 billion years of emotion.

80 years. A blink.

Less than a blink.

Suffering isn’t infinite but feels so constant.

Love fills our hearts until they want to burst.

The only thing certain. Life exists.

Whatever lies ahead, the present moment persists.

Throughout history, the end feels here.

Humanity always making it through it,

Compassion is the human condition

Always winning on one condition.

Compassion is endless, always prevails.

Without hate, love would be frail.

When our hearts beat as one

All hate is gone.

Spend this blink as though it is a sleep.

Dreamful, fulfilling, daring

Because in the end, life is for sharing.

If life is a circle, then let it be

In the end there was light, all the memories are real.

A note from bookfulblog:

This poem was in dedication of all the victims of Manchester as well all those who have lost their lives in these cowardly acts, Western or not. This week has been full of not just heartbreak but hope that together love will conquer hate and I felt the need to reflect my feelings in a poem. However, next week I did want to write a blog post about my thoughts on the Manchester Attack, media coverage, the reaction of the communities etc. Finally, my heart goes out to every single person affected by Terror this week and throughout the years, my thoughts and prayers are with you in these heartbreaking time.
